Your Day is My Night opened CalArts’ 2014 screening series at the REDCAT Theater on January 20th. Lynne and I flew out from NYC to present the film and we couldn’t have been happier with the quality projection and lively discussion around the film. While Lynne headed north to visit CalArts, I took a few days to hang out with friends of mine from college. We walked to LACMA and saw a special exhibit of work by Agnès Varda that highlighted her brief time spent living in Los Angeles. In the center of the space was a beach shack installation made of 35mm prints of one of her greatest box office flops. After spending some time in the exhibit, I saw a little old woman walking around, speaking French, and pointing out different pieces to a younger friend. I could have sworn it was Ms. Varda herself, but I could be wrong! It might have been my expectation that everyone is potentially a celebrity in Los Angeles, but it’s also cool to think Agnès Varda likes to hang around her own exhibit and give people tours.
